    The University of Ibadan has refused a suggestion to rename its historic Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall of Residence.
    In a post on X on Monday, a social media user urged the premier university, recognized as the first and best, to rename Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall to Akintola Hall.
    The X user @akobi_ayo stated, “There is a proposal to change Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, also known as Zik-Hall, at the University of Ibadan to Akintola Hall.
    “It’s nonsensical to refer to young Yoruba men as Zikite.”

    In response, the university emphasized that naming choices for facilities like Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall are based on historical acknowledgment rather than ethnic separation.
    “We would like to emphasize that UI is dedicated to promoting unity and academic excellence, not tribalism.
    “Naming choices for facilities such as Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall are based on historical acknowledgment, not ethnic separation.
    “We treat all students with equal value and maintain a legacy of inclusivity,” the post states.

    Guide on NYSC Medical Screening and Medical Certificate Collection

    The Health Service at the University of Ibadan, popularly refers to as JAJA releases a guidelines for both University of Ibadan students and non-students on how to obtain their Medical Screening and Medical Certificate Collection which is part of the requirement for NYSC registration.

    The guidelines for the collection is as follows:

    UNIVERSITY HEALTH SERVICE

    NYSC MEDICAL SCREENING AND MEDICAL CERTIFICATE

    1. Obtain the Medical Screening Form and the Medical Certificate of Fitness Form at the Director’s Office with the receipt of payment of:

    a. UI Student with School ID Card: ₦2,000

    b. Non UI Student: ₦3,000

    2. Obtain Stamped Laboratory Test Request Form at the Wellness Building with the receipt or proof of payment of:

    a. Lab Tests with Genotype and Blood Group: ₦15,000

    b. Lab Tests without Genotype and Blood Group: ₦12,000 (Lab Tests without Genotype and Blood Group is for those who have done the tests in the past)

    3. All payments are to be made into UI TSA Pay-portal.


    4. Chest X-ray to be done at these designated X-ray Centres with payment to be made out of pocket.  

    a. Ultrarad X-ray Centre, JAJA Clinic, UI
    b. Labmaster, Omak Pharmacy Building opposite U.I Post Office
    c. Total Care Diagnostic 7, Arulogun close off Awosiku Avenue, Old Bodija. 
    d. KOMIS X-ray Centres beside NMA Oya, beside Oyo Hausa, Total Garden, Ibadan

    5. Check your Blood Pressure, Height and Weight at the OPD

    6. Check your eye that is the Visual Acuity at the Eye Clinic.

    7. Bring the results of all the Laboratory Test 
    and Chest X-ray with the Medical Screening form and Medical Certificate of Fitness Form to see the UHS Doctor in the consulting room for consultation and reviews.

    8. Submit the filled form at the Director’s office for signing.

    The University of Ibadan announces the commencement of the Final Year Undergraduate clearance for the 2023/2024 academic session. The clearance has been scheduled to start by 9am – 3 pm. This follows the previous requirement released and pasted at the Undergraduate Admission office, University of Ibadan.

    Successful graduates for the just completed academic session can now visit the Undergraduates Admission Office with the following documents for their Final Year Clearance:

    i. O’ Level Result

    ii. Authority to Pay

    iii. Certification Letter

    iv. JAMB Admission Letter

    v. JAMB Result (Students admitted through JAMB) and DE Result (For Direct Entry students)

    vi. Change of Course Form (If Applicable)

    iv. Recent photograph of the applicant.

    v. A brief explanation of the necessity of the scholarship and the applicant’s eligibility (not exceeding half a typed page).

    Criteria for the OAU Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) Scholarship Fund

    The scholarship is available exclusively to Muslim students from all departments at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. 

    Applicants must not be enrolled in any other scholarship program at the time of their application. Additional criteria include:
    • Must be a Muslim student
    • Must be in 200 level or higher
    • Current/Returning awardees

    Academic qualifications required for the scholarship:

    For Merit Scholarship: a minimum of 3.50 CGPA.

    Returning awardees are not required to upload any documents in the online application. They only need to present their transcript during the interview for assessment.
